Filters

Photo filters were created to further expand the capabilities of the camera and lens. Using some of them, you can get fascinating effects, impossible to achieve in post-production. The Irix brand, wishing to guarantee photographers a comprehensive service and equipment, offers photographic filters of various properties and diameters, designed not only for lenses marked with its own logo, but also for all those equipped with the corresponding thread.

Among the round, screw-in filters of Irix, you can find all their basic types. UV filters are indispensable for analog photography, and also provide excellent lens protection when working with digital equipment. Thanks to polarizing filters, photographs acquire a little more color and contrast - due to their properties, they effectively minimize reflections on the surface of water or glass, allowing for capturing more information in the photos. Enthusiasts of long-exposure photography can get Neutral Density filters with a fixed value, which will work well in specific conditions, and an adjustable one, which provides versatility in any situation. Irix Edge Light Pollution filters are a great addition for any astrophotographer - they effectively cancel out light pollution from cities, visible near the horizon at night.

Irix Edge magnetic filters are designed to work with Irix Cine lenses. They are available in one size only - each is 86 mm in diameter, matching the dimensions of the magnetic mount on Irix Cine lenses. Thanks to a strong magnet on both sides, they adhere perfectly, creating a secure and safe connection that is ready to meet any task set before it. If necessary, it is possible to use several filters at the same time, in order to achieve unique effects in the picture.

Photographers involved in capturing landscapes are the largest group of Irix lenses users. It is with them in mind that the brand has designed an exceptionally simple and intuitive-to-use rectangular filter system with the IHF-100 and IHF-100 PRO holders. It allows you to use one set of filters with lenses of different diameters, thanks to the use of corresponding adapters. The Irix system includes full ND filters, which uniformly darken the entire image surface, and Gradual ones, designed for shooting landscapes with a visible horizon line. The second type of filters is available with a soft and hard transition between the darkening and light-transmitting fields - the former is extremely useful in situations where the horizon visible in the picture is an irregular line, while the latter will prove useful when photographing seascapes or ocean views. Reverse Grad filters are a separate category - unlike classic gradual ND filters, their darkest point is in the center, not at the top of the plate. This makes them best suited for photographing sunrises and sunsets, when the brightest part of the photo is right in the middle.

Irix also offers a unique set of gel filters, which attach to the lens in an unusual place - on the side of its rear lens. This accessory was created with the Irix 11 mm f/4 in mind - due to its convex front lens, it does not offer the possibility to screw in a circular filter, nor to use the holder for the rectangular filter system. The Irix 15mm lens is also equipped with a gel filter slot. Their use provides the possibility to darken the image, even when shooting with a wide-angle lens.
