Polarization and diffusion in one filter

The Black Mist 1/2 layer gently diffuses light and lowers contrast in bright areas without excessively affecting darker parts of the image. This creates a soft halo around light sources such as lamps, spotlights, or the sun, giving footage and photos a more atmospheric, cinematic character. The effect is especially appreciated in film production and portrait photography, where it can also help soften skin imperfections and harsh light.

The integrated CPL polarizing filter effectively reduces reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass, leaves, or painted objects. It improves scene clarity, enhances color saturation, and helps achieve deeper blue skies. The level of polarization can be smoothly adjusted by rotating the filter in its mount.

Irix Edge Magnetic Mount System (MMS) filters were designed for Irix Cine lenses. The magnetic, threadless mounting system makes installation and replacement quick, secure, and convenient, which significantly improves workflow on set. The flat-profile construction also makes the filter easier to handle and clean.

High optical quality and durable construction

The filter is made of high-quality optical glass with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings to maintain sharpness, contrast, and faithful color reproduction. Super Resistant (SR) tempered glass technology increases durability and resistance to mechanical damage, making the filter suitable for demanding shooting conditions. The protective NANO coating additionally repels water, grease, and contaminants while improving scratch resistance.
