Irix Edge MMS CPL SR Magnetic Filter

€109.00

The Irix Edge Circular Polarizer MMS filter is one of the most useful filter types. It makes  possible to record a character from behind the glass, bring out real colours from shiny surfaces, or make the sky come alive with a deep blue colour.

The Irix Edge MMS CPL SR magnetic filter combines polarization with a protective front layer for compatible Irix Cine lenses. It uses Super Resistant toughened optical glass and a protective nano coating to improve resistance to mechanical damage.

Magnetic mount – smooth, fast and secure workflow The filter attaches magnetically to MMS-equipped Irix Cine lenses and can be fitted or removed without using a screw thread.

Truly colour-neutral The filter uses optical glass with coatings on both surfaces and is intended to keep colour rendition neutral outside the intended polarization effect.

You'll not get it in a postproduction - polarization effect Rotating the CPL changes the polarization angle. This lets you control reflections on water and glass, strengthen colour saturation and adjust the appearance of the sky directly during capture.

Superb sharpness, clarity and contrast Multi-layer anti-reflective coatings on both sides help maintain contrast and detail. A nano coating also makes the surfaces easier to clean.

Threadless filter construction The MMS filter has a flat, threadless profile, so it can be changed without working with a screw-in filter thread.

Firm and secure magnetic mount The magnetic mount is shaped for compatible Irix Cine lenses and holds the filter securely in place during normal use.

Combine them easily! MMS filters can be stacked, so the CPL can be paired with a compatible ND filter when both polarization and light reduction are needed.

Ultra-thin filter profile The filter is 5 mm thick. The flat construction keeps the setup compact, including when compatible MMS filters are stacked.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Answers to common questions about the Irix Edge MMS CPL SR Magnetic Filter.

1. What does the Irix Edge MMS CPL SR filter do?
It reduces glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass. Rotating the filter also lets you control the polarization effect on colour saturation and skies.
2. Which Irix Cine lenses can use this front-mounted MMS filter?
It fits Irix Cine lenses equipped with the front Magnetic Mount System. The 11mm T4.3 and 21mm T1.5 are the exceptions; those two lenses do not accept front-mounted Irix Edge MMS filters.
3. How do I adjust the polarization effect?
Rotate the filter in its magnetic mount while watching the image. The effect changes with the filter angle, so you can stop where reflections and colour look right for the shot.
4. When is a CPL filter useful?
A CPL is useful when reflections on water, glass or other shiny non-metallic surfaces are distracting, or when you want stronger colour separation and more control over the sky in-camera.
5. Does the filter keep colour and detail neutral?
The optical glass and multi-layer anti-reflective coatings are intended to maintain sharpness, contrast and natural colour while the polarizing layer does its work.
6. What protection does the SR version add?
The filter uses Super Resistant optical glass and nano coatings that improve resistance to mechanical damage and help repel moisture and dirt.
7. Can I combine it with an MMS ND filter?
Yes. MMS filters can be stacked, so a CPL can be paired with a compatible ND filter when you need polarization and light reduction at the same time.
8. How thick is the filter?
The CPL SR has a 5 mm profile and a threadless magnetic mount, so it stays compact even when used as part of a stacked MMS setup.
