More accurate colours The 67mm Irix Edge Light Pollution filter reduces yellow light, helping achieve more accurate colours in any type of night photography near to, or in, the city (street, landscape, astrophotography, etc.).

Sharpness and contrast improvement This filter helps reduce yellowish haze, which can make images appear sharper and improve overall contrast.

Super Endurance (SE) filter series This filter series is characterized by its increased durability for demanding shooting conditions.

Nano coatings Special NANO coatings help to keep the filter surface clean. The filter has water and oil repellent characteristics which helps prevent dust from adhering to the surface.

Multilayer anti-reflective coatings Both sides of the filter are covered by a multi-layer anti-reflective coating, which helps maintain clear images while reducing flare.

The Irix Edge Light Pollution (SE) filter is a filter designed for such conditions - it reduces the yellow colour cast in pictures, so we achieve:

Significant colour improvement
A filter designed to support more accurate colour rendering at night
Improved overall contrast
The filter helps reduce yellowish haze, which can improve overall contrast
Improved sharpness
Due to contrast and colour improvement, the photo looks sharper and has more discernible detail

Irix Edge Super Endurance (SE) Series The Irix Edge Light Pollution is the first filter of the Super Endurance (SE) series. The optical glass has been subjected to a special thermal treatment to increase rigidity; in addition, both surfaces of the filter have been covered by coatings that further increase the overall strength of the entire filter surface.

The Irix Edge Light Pollution (SE) filter comes in handy every time we want to take a photograph near or in the city, for example with city landscapes, street photography or astrophotography.

Highest quality materials The Irix Edge Light Pollution filter has been made from the highest quality materials, just like every other filter from the Irix Edge product line-up. The main features that highlights Irix Edge filters are:

High-quality optical-grade glass designed to support high light transmission
Multi-layer anti-reflective coatings on both sides of the filter, which minimises the risk of unwanted reflections
NANO coating with oil and hydrophobic characteristics to help prevent dirt, oil and water from adhering to its surface, which makes maintaining the filter in good condition much easier
Increased durability. Due to the use of a special thermal treatment, the filter is more resistant to breakage
An aluminium frame which is light and durable; in addition, the whole surface of the frame has a matt finish which minimises risk of unwanted light reflections

Each of Irix Edge filters are sold in an aesthetic and functional case that provides adequate protection both during storage and transportation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Find practical information about fit, urban-light reduction, coatings and night use of the Irix Edge Light Pollution 67mm filter.

1. What is the Irix Edge Light Pollution 67mm filter used for?

It is designed to reduce the yellowish colour cast produced by some artificial light sources in and near cities. This can improve colour accuracy, contrast and apparent detail in night photographs.

2. Which lenses are compatible with the 67mm version?

The filter screws onto a lens with a 67mm front filter thread. Check the diameter marking on the lens or its cap before ordering; camera mount and focal length do not determine filter size.

3. When is a light-pollution filter most useful?

It is intended for night photography in or near urban areas, including cityscapes, street scenes, night landscapes and astrophotography affected by yellow artificial light.

4. Can the filter be used for astrophotography?

Yes. It can help reduce urban yellow glow when photographing the night sky near artificial lighting. The result depends on the spectrum and intensity of local light pollution, exposure settings and atmospheric conditions.

5. Does the filter remove every type of light pollution?

No. It targets yellowish colour casts from some artificial light sources and cannot remove all urban glow or every lighting spectrum. A darker location and careful white balance may still be needed.

6. How does the filter affect image quality and colour?

By reducing yellowish haze, the filter can improve contrast and make detail appear clearer while supporting more accurate night colour rendering. Review exposure and white balance under the actual lighting because results vary by scene.

7. What materials and coatings does the filter use?

It uses thermally treated optical-grade glass, multi-layer anti-reflective coatings on both sides, water- and oil-repellent NANO coatings, and a lightweight aluminium frame with a matt finish.

8. How should the filter be handled and stored?

The treated glass and protective coatings provide increased resistance, but the filter should still be handled carefully. Keep the surfaces clean and store it in the included protective case when it is not in use.
