The Irix Edge Soft Graduated ND4 filter with optical density of 0.6 provides a 2 stop reduction of light hitting the sensor of the camera. It is irreplaceable every time when photographing at a scenary with an invisible line of the horizon such as the forest, urban or mountain landscapes allowing spectacular effects without using the HDR effect.

Irix Edge filters are characterized by the highest precision and optical quality to be able to meet the image quality generated by Irix lenses. Both surfaces of the glass filter are covered by the multilayer antireflex and water/oil-proof coating providing high light transmission and natural colours in any weather conditions.

Compatible with:

Irix IFH-100 and other 100mm systems.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Answers to common questions about the Irix Edge Soft Gradual ND4 2-stop 100 x 150 mm filter.

1. What is the Irix Edge Soft Gradual ND4 filter used for?
It is used to reduce brightness in part of the frame rather than across the whole image. This soft gradual design is suited to scenes with an uneven horizon, such as mountains, forests or city skylines.
2. How strong is the ND4 graduated area?
The maximum density is ND4, which corresponds to a 2-stop reduction in light.
3. How does a Soft Gradual filter transition from clear to dark?
It uses a broad, smooth transition between the clear and dark areas. You can slide the filter in the holder to place the transition where it matches the scene.
4. What size is the filter?
It measures 100 x 150 mm and is designed for 100 mm filter holders.
5. How is it different from a Full ND filter?
A Full ND filter reduces light evenly across the whole frame. A graduated ND filter has a clear area and a darkened area, so it is used to balance parts of the scene with different brightness levels.
6. Which holders can I use?
It is compatible with the Irix IFH-100 system and other holders that accept 100 mm wide filters.
7. What coatings are used?
The product description specifies multi-layer anti-reflective coatings together with water- and oil-repellent surface treatment.
